Backgrounds, No People Yet

A couple of backgrounds for the Pontefract Castle project I've been working on recently. Historical figures will be overlaid, cell animation style.

Drawn A4 (ish) on 300gsm cartridge paper with a variety of dip pens and indian ink and coloured with transparent watercolour which was scanned and then the colours tweaked in Photoshop.

Reading Pictures: Seeing Stories Workshops

I've been asked to do a few workshops in November for Wakefield Libraries, celebrating words and pictures. Using Inktober this year I wanted to put what I know about drawing daily comics into practice. Where do ideas come from, keeping a sketch book and how do you shape them into regular pages.

Come along to Ossett Library 17th November and Wakefield Library 24th November and find out what I know.

Historical Comic Reprinted

The Battle of Wakefield 1460 I illustrated for Wakefield Museum a few years ago has been resized, re-lettered and reprinted and is available with the November 2018 issue No. 70 of All About History available online and where ever they still sell magazines (I found mine in my local Sainsbury's).

There's a little review over on Lew Stringers blog. Thank you Lew.
