BIG Draw Event...

Wednesday was the Big Draw event at Westgate Studios. Over 40 people joined in drawing to live music throughout the evening, on the papered walls of the Project Space. The evening went well and I spent four hours drawing, I drank far too much Guinness in The Hop afterwards. Standing two floors down on door duty listening to Dave Hanvey playing the Melodeon, and as the music flowed down the stairs, past me and onto the Kebab and Booze addled Westgate Run, I thought, just for a moment, this could be Paris. More pics from the event here at the Westgate Studios Blog.

Deep Land Diver...

From the Archives...

Found these images while looking for their artwork on a back up DVD I did for a client in 2006.... thought they deserved another airing.
By coincidence and in relation to the above about my 'new' computer, I was up late last night (with a headache and Alkaseltzer) and was doodling a self portrait, on the computer, from the sofa. How times change.

October Doodles 01

These are pages from one of my sketchbooks I'm drawing in at the moment. Playing with Pitt Grey Tone Brush Pens and HB pencils and flicking through a music mag for interesting faces. I am not trying to reproduce faces but get into their character more than anything, and the MOJO magazine I'm flicking through is great for this, they seem to have a lot of photos of older faces with beards and character lines.

Watch Out... WEREWOLVES!

It's that time of year again...
The mudanity of my daily life counter balanced by the desire to roam cemetery's in wolf form by night... ahem!
Werewolves are in and slightly overshadowing their good looking cousins the vampires for once. Two films on the horizon featuring Lycanthropy The Wolf Man and New Moon looking good.

Art Walk Night...

Last night was Artwalk night in Wakefield, where arts organisations get to debunk some of the mystique and mythology that surrounds art and those creatures called artists. I didn't open my studio as such, a lot of my work is over and done with at the moment and I was looking forward to Richard Wheaters performance at Wakefield Cathedral. It was a great night and without trying very hard I got to see some very nice people. This drawing was done in near darkness and I enjoyed not being able to see what I was doing. The Neon was very bright and burned into my eyes as the music soared my fibre tipped pen scibbled away.
